Transportation and Facility Services

Oregon City, Oregon

Go Back

Vehicle maintenance facilities have unique requirements not found in other building types. BBL Architects has designed multiple Transportation Centers and is quickly becoming an Authority on these highly-specialized design requirements. We have worked with Beaverton School District, North Clackamas School District, Hillsboro School District and most recently Oregon City School District to efficiently design facilities to accommodate their transportation needs; often including dispatch, parts & maintenance, vehicle washing facilities, drivers lounge and meeting facilities. Specialized systems include fluid dispensing reels piped from a bulk storage room to carefully located dispensing stations throughout the workbays. Floor drains are required to run through oil/water separator systems before discharging to sanitary sewer lines. Many of these areas also require special ventilation systems for tail pipe exhaust, in addition to general workbay ventilation at the floor level of each bay.

OCSD T/M FACILITY

The Oregon City Transportation Maintenance Facility streamlines efficiency by organizing and co-locating all of OCSD’s Fleet needs. This 30,480 s.f. facility includes 6 bus maintenance bays, 3 maintenance shops, dispatch, driver’s training room, offices, conference rooms and mezzanine storage. The bus maintenance bays include in-ground lifts, jib crane and fluid dispensing reels for oil, grease, antifreeze, and transmission fluid as well as for power, water and compressed air. A secure fenced compound provides parking for the Districts’ vehicle fleet including large and small buses, vans, maintenance and landscaping vehicles, mowers, etc.

ENVIRONMENTAL

This facility includes a 26 KW photovoltaic array mounted to the building’s roof. Stormwater treatment is also carefully designed both onsite and offsite a long the Right-of-Way street Improvements. A Sensitive Wetland and Natural Resource Overlay Zone and their buffer have been carefully preserved to reduce impact on the surrounding environment. Energy efficient fixtures include low-flow plumbing, hand-free faucets and LED light fixtures.
